Why would you want to be an AI Business Partner?
The news about generative AI dominated the year 2023. It became clear that AI can bring a lot to companies, and also that it's not as easy as we thought. That's why it's crucial to have professionals who can help companies navigate what to expect from the AI world, especially generative AI. Internal competency centers are increasingly being established, processes are being put in place to meet technological needs, and internal training programs are being implemented within organizations. These processes can be supported by an AI Business Partner. The training aims to help you support the process of expanding organizations with AI, both in terms of organizational development and technological development!
Who's an AI Business Partner?
The AI Business Partner is a person who understands both AI technology and business processes deeply enough to be able to mediate between the two worlds.

-
Someone who can listen to business problems, understand the economic rationality behind them (or the established organizational irrationality) and can make proven technological recommendations for the organization.
-
Someone who follows technological innovations and can judge when it is worth rethinking business processes along the lines of available developments.
-
Someone who can assess the organization's AI maturity even at a strategic level and helps to plan operational steps from data asset management to competence development and to the establishment of AI governance.
-
Someone who helps create customer specifications, can negotiate with technology suppliers, and is able to help the organization implement specific technologies.
The AI Business Partner is at the
intersection of 3 roles:
-
An AI business analyst can ask questions until a business need becomes clear enough to find a technological solution, in that respect he/she is like a business analyst.
-
An AI implementation consultant can plan the organizational implications and structural prerequisites of technology implementations (roles, competencies, processes, budgets, architectures, change in processes).
-
An AI evangelist can constantly keep up with technological changes, assess their relevance, translate them into a language that is understandable to the organization and promote and inspire their use.
By unifying these three, the AI Business Partner can support organizations to see through the hype surrounding AI technology and make the best use of the available results.
One of the main components of organizational competitiveness is the ability to adapt to technology: how quickly can each organization find, digest, and implement continuously emerging AI technologies? However, every organization has the need to determine whether there is technology available that can bring about radical breakthroughs specific to their uniqueness, their specific processes, and their technological background. (In general, there is.) We are looking for technologies that genuinely contribute to efficiency. This means generating more revenue, achieving the same results with less costs, or, more commonly, at approximately the same level of cost, we can significantly increase the quality of products or services to remain competitive.
AI brings countless examples in every field, but it requires an individual responsible for identifying, selecting, and implementing these technologies. In many organizations, these responsibilities are merely assigned to someone without providing them with the necessary toolkit.
In the AI Business Partner education, we provide specific skills for fulfilling these responsibilities.
Why is AI Business Partner competence beneficial for organizations?
Who should join the AI Business Partner training?
Who is this for?
-
For internal or external business/organizational development consultants who would like to offer the opportunities provided by artificial intelligence to their internal/external clients
-
For technologists, technology consultants, who feel the need to understand the impact of AI on business processes
-
For colleagues responsible for internal innovation/data management and business intelligence, who would like to specifically complement their portfolio with the opportunities presented by new AI trends
-
For professionals working in specialized business areas (e.g. marketing, sales, customer service, manufacturing) who wish to deepen into the AI possibilities in their own field and are open to exploring other areas as well
Who is this NOT for?
-
For those seeking data scientist/AI developer training: this is not a technological training, there are excellent other options for that
-
For those seeking prompt engineer training: although we will learn many generative AI control techniques (prompting), but the training's goal is not to make participants experts in this field
-
For those with no leadership/consulting experience: we won't be able to teach the art of leading, inspiring, and motivating people, but we can add the AI-specific aspects to it
-
For those averse to technology: while programming knowledge is not required for the training, there must be a willingness to familiarize oneself with the technology
-
For those averse to dealing with people: if you believe that "there are so many good technologies, and the problem in the world is that people use them," then this might not be the right place for you. Technologies are only as good as humans can use them, and here we will focus on (imperfect) human users and organizations, not (just) the possibilities inherent in the technology
WHAT DOES THIS EDUCATION INCLUDE?
The training is built around 4 main pillars: technology, business, organization, and society
Technology
Artificial Intelligence has been delivering results long before generative AI technologies. It is essential to understand the fundamentals of AI (machine learning, deep learning, data requirements, training process), the different basic types (supervised and unsupervised learning, reinforcement learning), and be familiar with related IT fields and architectures (data warehouse - data lake - data mesh, microservice architecture, IoT, Big Data Management, robotics, data science, cybersecurity). Building on this knowledge, one can comprehend the emerging ecosystem (generative AI engines, plugins, apps, orchestrators).
The aim for participants is to:
-
Be confident in negotiating basic concepts, efficiently use AI-based tools, and know when and what type of experts to involve in discussions
-
Possess a framework that enables them to continuously monitor the rapidly unfolding advancements in AI
Business
The purpose of the business pillar is to understand, through numerous case studies, what technological solutions can be provided for various business problems and, most importantly, how the transformation from a business problem to a technological solution occurs as a human process. We will explore three major business processes (sales-marketing, customer service, HR) and three important industries (banking, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals). Throughout, we will examine various application areas, typical decision points, specific implementations, and returns on investment.
The goal is for the participants to:
-
have an extensive collection of case studies, allowing them to develop analogical thinging and a strong sense of reality within specific organizational contexts.
-
be able to facilitate conversations that can effectively assist the business specification process, reducing task complexity by prioritizing elements of business needs.
Organization
The organizational pillar's aim is to position individual opportunities within the context of a specific company. To achieve this, we will use an AI organizational maturity model developed over the years, which divides organizations into 6 levels of AI capability and examines organizational development across 8 dimensions and 32 sub-dimensions. This approach provides a comprehensive view of factors that influences the development of AI technology usage in organizations, ranging from data asset management, addressing the build-or-buy dilemma, formulating strategic focuses, to managing the change process.
The goal is for participants to:
-
assess an organization's AI usage maturity and recognize the inertia of this stage that determines a certain pace of development. Based on this assessment, they will be able to make recommendations concerning specific projects.
-
continuously identify opportunities within each dimension and understand the interdependencies between dimensions. This will enable them to inspire and steer larger implementation processes effectively.
Society
The training does not aim to address all the social dilemmas raised by the development of AI. However, its goal is to provide an overview of the most important social and existential philosophical questions that constantly emerge in relation to AI implementations. How will it impact the job market? How should it be regulated, and where are we in terms of regulation? What dangers does it pose concerning elections, media, social destabilization, and warfare? What is general artificial intelligence, and where do we stand on the path towards it? What questions does the development of general artificial intelligence raise, and what efforts are being made to keep it in line?
These questions arise even in the most business-oriented discussions, and it is both our human and expert responsibility to be informed about them.
The goal is for participants to:
-
understand the broader social issues and debates surrounding AI and be able to ground these discussions.
-
deal with these questions in an integrated manner in business projects, making them forward-moving and motivating without “sweeping them under the rug” with false pretences.
